Rhythm Master

Level 1

LEARN THE PROGRESSION

Level 1 is where accuracy, control and rhythmic awareness are built. The goal is to develop a steady sense of pulse and gradually learn to use the sounds of the drum kit as rhythmic reference points.

You begin with the clear and consistent reference of the metronome. From there, combinations of drum sounds are gradually introduced alongside the click, allowing you to connect what you hear with the pulse you already know. Finally, the metronome is removed and the drum sounds become your rhythmic reference.

Through this progressive transition, you learn to maintain the same timing, accuracy and control as the rhythmic reference changes, building the foundation you need before moving on to the drum grooves of Level 2.

THE PROGRESSION
FROM METRONOME TO DRUMS

Build a Steady Sense of Pulse

Start with the metronome and focus on developing accuracy, consistency and a steady sense of pulse. Begin with a simple, unaccented click that allows you to listen, feel the tempo and start whenever you are ready. Then move to the accented metronome, where the beginning of each bar becomes a clear rhythmic reference. Master both before moving on to Stage 2.

STAGE 2
FROM METRONOME TO DRUMS

Transfer the Pulse

Make the Transition to Drums

Now transfer the steady sense of pulse you developed with the metronome to the sounds of the drum kit. This transition happens progressively as drum sounds are introduced alongside the metronome and gradually become your rhythmic reference. As the metronome is removed, learn to maintain the same timing, accuracy and control by following the drums alone.
